SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding

How we keep children and young people safe in our classes, community and free lessons.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Our statement

At MyGCSEMaths (“we”, “us”, “our”), the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is extremely important to us. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive online environment for all learners who engage with our content and services.

This statement covers our website, our free lessons and Group Tutoring, including live classes on Zoom, our community on Skool and our free lesson WhatsApp group. Skool, Zoom and WhatsApp also have their own safety policies.

Commitment to safeguarding

We aim to ensure that all content is appropriate, respectful, and focused on education. We do not knowingly publish content that is harmful, inappropriate, or exploitative, and we take reasonable steps to protect children and young people who interact with our services.

We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and take concerns seriously. Any safeguarding concerns brought to our attention will be reviewed promptly and handled appropriately.

Who is responsible

Matt Eberle, the founder of MyGCSEMaths, teaches the classes and is the person responsible for safeguarding. Matt holds an enhanced DBS check (December 2025).

To raise a concern, email matt@mygcsemaths.com. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 first.

Online safety

Live classes are taught to a group, not one-to-one. The class chat is visible to everyone in the class and is recorded. Our free lesson WhatsApp group is announcement-only: only Matt can post, and members cannot see each other’s numbers. Students should never share personal contact details in class chats or the community.

Matt only messages parents or carers one to one, never students privately. Questions from students are answered in the class or the community, where everyone can see them.

We encourage parents and carers to be involved in their child’s learning and to supervise internet use where appropriate.

Rules for classes and the community

Everyone in our classes, our community and our WhatsApp group agrees to these rules:

Be kind. No bullying, threats, insults or messages meant to upset anyone, and no discrimination of any kind.

Keep it about learning. Do not post anything sexual, violent, hateful or illegal, or anything that encourages self-harm.

Keep private things private. Use a first name or nickname. Never post your own or anyone else’s phone number, address, school, social media accounts or photos, and do not ask other members for theirs.

Keep the membership to members. Do not share class links, recordings, logins or Mastery Toolkit materials with anyone outside it.

Speak up. If something makes you uncomfortable, tell a parent or carer, or tell us using the details below.

If a rule is broken

We may remove messages, remove someone from a class or the community, and suspend or end a membership. Where a student is involved, we may tell their parent or carer. Our Terms and Conditions explain how this affects a membership.

Reporting concerns

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person in connection with MyGCSEMaths, please contact us as soon as possible using the details below. Tell us what happened, when and where (for example which class, or the community), and who was involved if you know. Where necessary, we may escalate concerns to the appropriate safeguarding authorities, such as the local authority’s children’s services or the police.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 first.
